senior portraits (kind of - megan's not a senior)

My apologies for the photo overload of this post but these kids are just too cute to not share.

Meg's friend Abbie has a great sense of style...a cute, fun indie vibe.  I was wanting to practice my photography and I knew she'd be a good one to shoot cause she wouldn't expect perfection from me and she likes things a bit quirky and off beat - we'd be perfect together.

We didn't actually end up doing the shoot I envision for her (centered around music - her love, that shoot will happen soon) but we did get some cute shots of her as we walked around San Juan Capistrano.

Abbie (and Megan for that matter) are into a 70's type of editing for photos so thats what I went with.  I think the look and feel of this photos totally captures who Abbie is...cute & fun with a bit of edge.

picture below is one of my favorites...

another favorite below (I have come to realize when I look at pictures I've taken I gravitate toward the detail shots.  I think I like the little glimpse they give you of who the person is and they leave you wanting to know more about them)

I also did a shoot with Megan because she need photos of herself for a recognition night at church (more on that later)  We went to a tick and rattlesnake infested field right by home and had a great time.

I love the picture below but it leaves me feeling a little sad...soon she'll be packed up and heading off to college.  Miss her already!

Did I mention that in addition to ticks and rattlesnakes there were thorns...lots of them!!  Gotta love this candid shot of Megan pulling some of those thorny buggers out of her body.

I got to go back to that neighborhood field and shoot another of Megan's friends...Travis.  Unfortunatley most of the photos we snapped were lost.  They were on the CF card when we got home but they would not download onto the computer.  Eventually they were lost on the card as well.  Not sure how we messed that all up.  We ended up with only about 15 or so photos.

So here's a few of handsome Travis.  The girls at BYU are gonna love him!

flashback

My uncle emailed me this picture a couple days ago.  It's me.  What was my mom thinking sending me out in what looks like a nightgown?  And that Dorothy Hamill haircut.

one of those days

Car broken into sometime last night, glass shattered, purse stolen, $1,000's racked up on debit and credit cards, police report, multiple phone calls with bank and credit card companies, house a mess, headache, etc...just want to go back to bed or spend hours on the internet in an effort to not think about everything else.

It's just been one of those days (and it's only 11am...yikes!)

sunday dinner

This is normal for a Sunday dinner, right?  Please tell me that you guys always put your napkin up to your face and push a hole through it with your tongue (and then you take pictures to document it because it's not embarrassing at all)

I'm beginning to think my kids will have no chance of getting married.  Who would want to join this group?

you never know what you'll get

I love finding random photos on the computer that I didn't take or have never seen.  I kinda love these kids!

good friends

Ran across this baby picture of Megan and Kate Saylin while going through photos.  As a side note...while going through photos I found 48 rolls of UNdeveloped film.  Umm, I guess I got a little behind on developing.  We are now waiting to get the photos back to see what treasures we find.

Back to to the baby picture.  When I found it I knew I had to find a picture of these girls all grown up.  From baby friends to EFY roommates these two are still good friends.  Distance has kept them apart for about half their lives but you'd never know that when they get together.

We're grateful for the good friends like the Saylins and so many others that touch our lives and make our journey a lot more enjoyable.

spring break

Here is a very photo heavy, random sampling of our Spring Break last week.  Pictures did not download in order and I am way too lazy to fix it (and don't tell me you've never felt like that too)

Grass fight at the local school

Megan went on a double date...bike ride, climbing, picnic at the park.  Both Megan and Emily got new, matching bikes at the start of spring break (see the cute turquoise one with the basket?  I kinda love it and want one too)

Rolling down hills.  Why is something this simple so much fun?  We should all do this a bit more.

Disneyland

New shoes and a new shoe photo shoot.  Random, I know but regardless it is what we did during the week.

More double date pictures

Family trip to the park with friends.  Megan spent a lot of her time in solitude being artsy.  I love watching my kids create (especially when they don't know I'm watching)

Time spent with good friends is always fun

A game or two of Pickle

A seriously relaxing day

Super blurry picture but love it anyway

Everyones favorite activity...the beach.  Luke and friends waiting for the perfect wave to run into with their boogie boards

Soaking up the sun!

a sunny spot

A few weeks ago we had some seriously nice weather.  Every day after school the kids and I would climb out Megan's bedroom window to the patio cover where we'd lay out towels, blankets, & exercise mats.  It was a great place to read, do homework, play DS, sleep, day dream and just enjoy the sun.

mormal

On Friday Megan went to Mormal (Mormon + Formal = Mormal)  4 local stakes (congregations) from Mission Viejo,  Rancho Santa Margarita, Laguna Niguel and San Clemente) put it on every year.  The dance was at Soka University - a beautiful campus.

Before the dance the kids went to Dana Point to take pictures.

Friends from church & school.

Love these pictures of Megan with her cousin Dusty

Dusty & Megan and their dates

As the sun went down it got cold, very cold.  The girls were shivering in their dresses.

We found the cowboy booys on ebay and Megan was beyond excited to wear them.
