san francisco

6 days in San Francisco

celebrated our 17 wedding anniversary - yeah for marrying someone that would stick with me so long

celebrated with family at the wedding of Kelly and Justin

used public transit and loved every minute of it

bought clothes at an amazing vintage store

ate the best spanish tapas (twice)

enjoyed a lazy afternoon at the park talking with Derek while gazing at the Golden Gate bridge thru the fog

was brave and ventured out on my own to explore the city while Derek watched Ghana beat the US

drank the best OJ i've ever had at Squat and Gobble

bought goodies galore for family and friends in Chinatown

slept in an oversized king sized bed and have been dreaming about it ever since (also dreaming about blackout curtains) anything to make me sleep better

bought an expensive dish towel with whales on it - to frame, not use.  three cheers for the husband that was ok with me buying the expensive dish towel and didn't once say "you're kidding, right?"  (Sam, if you are reading this there is an Orca on the towel so please let us know in advance if you plan to visit so we can remove the framed towel from the wall)

took hardly any pictures

had a great time!!

happy 15th

I couldn't have said it better then this song.

15 things I love about my hubby...

1.  married me in spite of a sometimes rocky courtship
2.  has worked to make our marriage almost completely non rocky
3.  is one of the most understanding people I know
4.  constantly finds the bright side of things and helps me to do the same (I'm just not near as good at it as he is)
5.  keeps me and and the kids laughing - he makes family life totally fun
6.  works hard at both work and church
7.  is an amazing dad
8.  sees the good in everyone
9.  goes along with all my hair brained party ideas and now even joins in on the planning and execution
10. is thoughtful and constantly thinking of others feelings
11. is helpful around the house
12. dishes out lots of hugs and kisses to me and the kids
13. doesn't freak out when I start loading the garage with Halloween props in the middle of June
14. knows how to balance all the commitments he has with work and church so that his family doesn't suffer
15. is ok with $100 in roaming charges so that he can call me each night while he is away in Mexico to see how the kids and I are doing.

I'm so lucky I'm in love with my best friend!

14 years

June 26, 1993 in the Los Angeles Temple

Today Derek and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary with a big date to Golden Spoon, the grocery store and Borders. What we did didn't matter - I'm just happy that we have had 14 happy years together.
These pictures make me laugh - it seems like forever ago and we look way too young to be getting married. The first picture is a snapshot someone took as we came out of the temple and it is one of my favorites. The second picture was taken at "our spot" at the temple. On Sundays we would go on dates to the temple to go through the visitors center or walk around the grounds. We often ended up at this spot where we would sit and talk.
Although some of you married folks may disagree with me - I think I married the best guy in the whole world. He is the best hubby and daddy that I could ever hope for for myself and the kids. It has been the biggest blessing in my life to have known him for 19 years and to have been married to him for 14 - I realize I could have been married to him for 16 happy years but that's all in the past, right?!?! Here comes the sappy part...he is the love of my life!
edit...I have been trying to seperate the paragraphs in this post for the last 10 minutes and it is not working - it is making me crazy! I just had to vent.
